Jamaica Rifle Association

The first Jamaica Rifle Association was formed in 1896. On the 25th of May of that year, there is a press record of a meeting of delegates from the existing parish rifle associations, to form such an association to permit rifle shooting throughout the island. Seven parish associations became affiliated and individuals also were eligible to become members. Affiliation with the National Rifle Association in England was approved.

Sporting Areas

The JRA boast seven different sporting diciplines.

Practical Pistol Shooting
The sport relies on not only the competitors shooting ability but on their ability to plan and execute the most efficient way to approach each course.
Full Bore Rifle Shooting

Archery
Archery is between childhood dream and Zen meditation, of play, recreational and competitive sports.
Cadet Shooting (JCCF)
The Jamaica Rifle Association has partnered with the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force as a means of developing a youth shooting program.
I.S.S.F. Shooting
The International Shooting Sport Federation is the governing body of the Olympic Shooting events in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines, and several non-Olympic Shooting events.
