From July 22 – 28, 2018, Jamaica will be abuzz, hosting the seventh Pan American Handgun Championship. The Pan American Handgun Championship is a level four IPSC handgun match and is held every three years. The only match of higher level is the World Shoot, which crowns the world handgun champions.
There are 28 countries in the Pan American region that are invited to send competitors to vie for the position of regional champion. These countries include the big nations of North and South America. The event will attract several hundred competitors and officials from the region and across the world. In addition to the intense rivalry, great fun and camaraderie exist, as competitors from all over become unified through the spirit of sport shooting, and the sharing of experiences and culture.
We are proud to be the hosts of the event and are working hard to make it memorable. The match will be held across two locations – Jamaica Rifle Association in Kingston and Woodleigh Range in May Pen – featuring twenty-four stages plus a shoot-off. Of course, all these visitors aren’t just coming for the shooting, so we happily share the things that make Jamaica special including our warm beaches, tasteful cuisine and the unmistakable beat of our world-famous music.
